committed the care of His mother to the beloved disciple, all in order that through the sleep of death He might dream of the beauteous bride that only His loving Father could prepare for Him—she who would stir all the passions of His heart, she whose love would satisfy His soul, and she who was to know the intimacy of His matchless love for her, like the bride of Adam, by beholding the scars He bore for her (cf.
